Tuesday's Tip

Tuesday's Tip comes all the way from high school...maybe middle school :) We were talking about home economics today and I told some of my friends from work that one thing I learned stuck with me all the way from back then. It has to do with coring and cleaning a head of lettuce.

Once you take the "head" out of the plastic bag, you hold the "head" with the core faced down. Bang the head against the counter once or twice until the core goes a little ways into the head. Turn the head with the core facing up and take the core out with your fingers. Run water over the head filling up the core until water starts flowing from the head. Pull off the "bad" leaves and store the rest in a bowl with a top or cover with plastic.
